The 750 m long noise barrier along E-22 in Kalmar has been completed on site. More than a hundred single-family and multi-family homes are to be built in the area next to the highway, and this requires effective noise protection in the shape of a 5 m high noise barrier. The entire screen is printed with Hammerglass stylized LEAF-patterns to prevent birds from flying into it. In addition, 12 of the 400 Hammerglass panels are equipped with a custom-designed motif print for Kalmar City. A total of 40 tonnes of glass panels have been installed.
The end customer Kalmar Municipality has been clear that the screen should blend into the terrain in the best way:
- Transparent unbreakable Hammerglass noise reduction screen
- Natural-looking pattern of stylised leaves to prevent birds from flying into the panes, as well as custom-designed prints for Kalmar City
- Each panel is measured individually and cut trapezoidally so as to follow the contour of the ground, instead of being stepped where the ground slopes
- Easy to clean of graffiti and of dirt from the road
A total of 40 tons of Hammerglass were installed along a stretch of 750 meters during the summer/autumn of 2017.
